Ice climbing at Pyhä’s Tajukangas

Ice climbing at Pyhä’s Tajukangas
Tajukangas Ice Fall is a 30-meter-high waterfall that freezes over in winter to form a beautiful ice climbing wall. On the top of the frozen wall, you can watch over the amazing fell scenery of Pyhä. The best time to visit Tajukangas is in the evening, when the wall is illuminated with colorful spotlights that resemble the northern lights.

The ice climbing tour includes all the necessary climbing equipment, such as a helmet, harness, ice axes and bear claw -like footwear that helps with grabbing the icy wall. Since no prior climbing experience is needed, ice climbing is a safe and brisk outdoor activity for beginners too.

Bliss Adventure organizes trips to the Tajukangas Ice Fall, and there are different levels of experiences available for everyone from kids and beginners to expert climbers. The trips are available during winter depending on the weather and ice situation. While one of the climbers is conquering the wall, the others can follow their progress and wait for their turn by a cozy campfire.

Bliss Adventure also organizes day trips to Korouoma at Posio. Korouoma’s gorge has tall, over 60-meter-high frozen waterfalls. The walk down the trail to the bottom of the valley picks the climbers’ heart rate up already before the climb. The trip to Korouoma lasts for a full day, from Pyhä approx. from 7.30am to 8pm.
