This December Pyhä Ski Resort opens a new, fast PohjoisExpress chairlift to its northern slopes. The new lift reaches the top in less than five minutes and can carry twice as many skiers as the previous T-bar lift. In addition to regular chairs, the new lift also has sturdier chairs that withstand stormy weather. This allows the chairlift to be used even when the weather is exceptionally windy.
The main ski lift at Pyhä, PyhäExpress, also gets 20 new storm-enduring chairs. Since the new chairs are larger in size, they increase the lift capacity, and make it possible to for example take mountain bikes to the top of the slopes.
Pyhä Ski Resort’s capacity will grow by a third after the chairlift renovation is finished. Pyhä has been a carbon neutral travel resort for over ten years, and the new ski lift has also been purchased sustainably secondhand from Austria.
